Spring Break At Camp Anderson
Join us at Camp Anderson this Spring Break for a weeklong outdoor adventure filled with hands-on activities. Designed for 1st–6th graders, this program gives kids the chance to unplug, explore nature, and experience the best parts of camp life. Campers will rotate through activities like archery, gaga ball, friendship bracelets, capture the flag, and more. Throughout the week, participants will build skills, make new friends, stay active, and enjoy time outdoors during their break.
| Activities | Description |
| Archery | Participants will receive instruction in basic archery technique, including stance, grip, aiming, and range rules. Under direct supervision, they will practice shooting at stationary targets. |
| Friendship Bracelets | Create colorful friendship bracelets using simple knotting patterns. Participants can experiment with different color combinations and designs while making something meaningful to wear or share with a friend. |
| Shelter Building | Work together to design and build shelters using natural materials found around camp. Participants will experiment with structure, placement, and creativity to see whose shelter can stand up to the elements. |
| Plant ID Hike | Head out on the trails with plant ID cards in hand to search for native species around camp. Along the way, participants will discover interesting identifying features and learn fun facts and historical uses connected to the plants they find. |
| Terrarium Building | Build a miniature ecosystem. Participants will work together to layer soil, plants, and natural materials to create their own small world while learning how the pieces of an ecosystem fit together. |
| Gaga Ball | Jump into the fast-paced action of Gaga Ball. This high-energy favorite keeps everyone moving as players dodge, strike, and react quickly in the pit. |
| Lawn Games | Enjoy a relaxed rotation of classic outdoor games like bocce ball, cornhole, and disc golf. Participants can challenge friends, practice their aim, or simply enjoy time outside. |
| Sandcastle / Moat Building | Put creativity and teamwork to the test by building the ultimate sand structure. Participants can experiment with design, height, and detail to create something impressive from simple materials. |
| Fire Building | Learn different techniques for building a successful fire, from gathering materials to arranging structures. Participants will explore what makes a fire burn well and practice the steps under supervision. |

- Bakerview Sports Center (3301 E Fir St, Mount Vernon, WA 98273) and the Y’s Lake Sixteen property (21261 Daisy Lane, Mount Vernon, WA, 98274)
- The YMCA will transport children to and from Lake 16.
- Pick Up/Drop Off:
- Morning drop off begins at 8:30 AM and will run till 9:00 AM at Bakerview Sports Center.
- Afternoon pick up will begin at 3:30 PM until 4:00 PM at Bakerview Sports Center.
- Dates/Time:
- April 6th-10th
- Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

- Open to youth in grades 1 through 3
